How to photograph flower arrangements is something many floral artists would like to learn. As many famous flower photographers know it all starts with some creativity. Not only the camera settings for flower photography are very important, but for a successful floral photographer the setup for indoor flower photography is number one for beautiful pictures. I’ve some ideas for flower photography indoor in your own floral business or in your self created “photo studio”. Creative as you are as a florist you can create a proper setup which you can use day after day.
What do you need to photograph your flower arrangement?
- some square meters
- background paper
- an easy to setup table
- light (available or flash)
- a camera of course 😉
Where do you get these things?
- some square meters in a corner of your shop or your workshop or basement, shed, etc.
- background paper in any photo shop, webshop
- any table will do
- available light as there is available 😉
- flash light(s) and camera in any photo shop, webshop
Can I also photograph flower arrangements outside?
Of course! It’s also very creative to photograph your arrangement in a proper outdoor setting. In a forest by example or in a park nearby. Or in a nice interior; a restaurant, a church, a castle, an office, a living room, where ever your arrangement will suit the space.
How not to photograph your arrangement?
There are also some things to consider how NOT to photograph your arrangement, like;
- shooting on a plain floor
- directly against the background
- with your in/on camera flash
- with a lot of “noise” in the background
- or use “not fresh” flowers
Do you want some inspiration? For several examples take a look at the photo gallery. The best results are to be made in a proper “studio” setup or on location. On location it’s very important to match the arrangement with the background. The arrangement should always be the main part of the picture. In my easy to follow video tutorials you will see how this can be done.
